Always Now Neutrals

Monochromatic dressing has to be one of my favorite style hacks. Think about it, you just grab the elements of an outfit: a top, bottoms, shoes, and accessories, in varying degrees of the same shade, and voila! you're chic and coordinated. Monochrome has been having a moment for some time now. There’s a reason why Pinterest boards are dedicated to color-coordinated tonal dressing. The clean lines of tone-on-tone color make for a simple chic look embraced by stylists and often seen worn on repeat, by celebrities. The look can seem minimalist, but when layered, feels well-appointed, discerning, and lush with sophistication.

One recent, somewhat viral fashion moment, comes to mind care of Naomi Watts’ character on the Netflix series The Watcher. Everyone had to know where to find “that” trench and “those” cashmere sweaters. (The answers: AMBUSH sold on Farfetch and VINCE.) Maybe it’s the return to ease and calm that we’re all longing for after the pandemic but there’s something so eternally fresh about neutrals. Case in point: I shot this look a few fall seasons ago but it’s a classic formula I’ll turn to for the transition to spring this season and time and again. Look for luxe transitional fabrics like cashmere and linen. Some go-to brands at varying price points to consider to get the minimalist yet luxe look: J.Crew, Banana Republic, Reformation, Frank & Eileen, Jennie Kayne, COS, VINCE and TOTEME. Camel, tans, ivory, and brown shades are the perfect palette cleanser to inject your wardrobe for a fresh start no matter the season. Wouldn’t you say?
