The Black-Tie Looks to Wear Now

If you saw my Christmas Countdown you know that I’m a believer in “black-tie” for a holiday look. Adding some serious black-tie staples to your wardrobe, like an LBD, can take things into seriously stylish territory. And New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to amp up the everyday with dressier, dreamier looks you might not often reach for. I practically live in black jeans but a leather pant feels luxurious. This wrap-top from Karen Grimaldi is an abbreviated version of the sequin wrap dress that is everywhere this season. A velvet or lace top or even an embellished tee would be equally apropos.

Take tuxedo separates. What I love about separates like this satin jacket and tuxedo pant from Alice & Olivia is how you can mix and match for day and for night just add some sparkle to instantly elevate a look. I opted for a sexy sequin bodysuit underneath. But silver, gold or a black blouse, or any color for that matter, can feel just as festive.

Slip dresses and floor-grazing lengths in silk and satin and luxe fabrics like velvet and sequins feel the most formal. And a slip dress can also be low-key depending on how you style them. A flat sandal and a long-line cardigan can work day or night. I hope your party season and these looks inspire your night-out dressing all year long. And that you find black tie doesn’t have to feel so serious taking you from and desk to dinner to date-night and girls night out. Happy New Year!
